Arjun Singh, the then Union HRD Minister laid the foundation of the permanent campus, spread over an area of around 501.42-acre (2.1 km2), on 17 February 2009 at Simrol, a location on Khandwa Road about 25 km from the city of Indore.

IIT Mandi has four Academic Schools and three major Research Centers. The Schools are: School of Computing and Electrical Engineering, School of Basic Sciences, School of Engineering, and School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Centers are: Advanced Materials Research Centre (AMRC; set up with an investment of Rs. 60 crores), Centre for Design and Fabrication of Electrical Devices (C4DFED; has Rs. 50 crores worth of fabrication tools), and BioX Centre (has acquired research equipment worth Rs. 15 crores).

The unique, project-oriented B.Tech. curriculum is centred around its 4-year long Design and Innovation stream. From August 2019, IIT Mandi started 3 new and unique B. Tech. programmes in Data Science and Engineering, Engineering Physics, and Dual Degree in Bioengineering.

Indian Institute of Technology Patna is one of the new IITs established by an Act of the Indian Parliament on August 6 2008. It has 10 departments.

  1. IIT Goa

This institution began its innings on July 2016 in a temporary campus located at Goa Engineering College (GEC) which is situated at Farmagudi.

The mission of IIT Goa is to impart knowledge and provide unique learning experience to prepare students to be responsible leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, and professionals who will play a leading role in the sustainable development of Goa and the nation as a whole.

In each of the two semesters of the first year, a student is required to register for the relevant courses listed in the curriculum for that semester.

The institution was inaugurated on 6 August 2016 and welcomed the first batch of students into the campus in Paloura, Jammu. In the initial phases, the establishment of IIT Jammu was done under the mentorship of IIT Delhi.

IIT Jammu shifted its primary operations to the main campus in Jagti. A 400 acres of land was provided for the establishment of the campus. Currently the Phase 1 A of the main campus, spread across 25 acres, is operational.
