The following list of universities within California was compiled using information from the National Center for Education Statistics’ College Navigator Database as well as the individual schools’ websites. The order of this list is based on each school’s tuition rate, ranking the highest rate No. 15 and so on.
15. California State University–Stanislaus
Turlock, Calif.
CSU Stanislaus is around 90 minutes from San Jose and is located near Modesto. Students will have lots of options with 38 undergraduate degrees ranging from kinesiology to chemistry. Northridge, Calif.
CSUN is in the northern portion of the city, near Santa Clarita, in Northridge, Los Angeles. The institution was formed on the concept of offering access to higher education over six decades ago. There are 68 undergraduate programs and 14 teaching credential programs at the school.

10. San Francisco State University
San Francisco, Calif.
SFSU is a large university with a diverse range of programs, many of which include a variety of minors and focuses. San Francisco is an iconic city in and of itself, known for its artistic culture, world-renowned architecture, and one of America’s most recognizable landmarks–the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s also one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in, so college could be the best time to do so. Room and board at SFSU is far less expensive than renting in the city, which can be a problem given how tough it is to locate an empty apartment in San Francisco.

9. California State University–Fullerton
Fullerton, Calif.
CSU Fullerton provides a wide range of programs, including more than 50 undergraduate majors. These programs cover a wide range of topics, from philosophy to radio-television-film, and everything in between. The university provides four languages as well as degrees in international business, political science, and public administration, all of which can benefit from bilingual students. Fullerton offers a wide range of intriguing and diverse possibilities, and a creative student might make the most of them.

8. California State University–San Bernardino
San Bernardino, Calif.

This is the East Bay’s principal four-year high-access university. It has a high admission rate when compared to many other public colleges, and students with a good community college record should have no trouble getting in. The school is in Hayward, about 20 miles south of Oakland. There are forty undergraduate majors and nearly as many minors available at the school, giving students lots of possibilities.

5. California State University–Long Beach
Long Beach, Calif.
Attend classes in one of the world’s most beautiful locations. You’ll be right on the beach at Long Beach, California, which is one of the state’s most famous stretches of coastline. But be careful; the gorgeous scenery may cause you to lose focus on your studies. The campus is lovely, and there is a strong arts program that includes dance, design, music, theater, and other activities. CSULB also offers a variety of community service opportunities to its students.

4. California State University–Channel Islands
Camarillo, Calif.
Students can expect to find a wide range of programs at CSUCI, including Chicana/o studies and numerous art degrees, as well as applied physics and economics. Although the institution is smaller than many other state colleges and room and board is more expensive, it is nevertheless a fantastic value. Just north of Point Mugu State Park, CSUCI is located.

3. California State University–Los Angeles
Los Angeles, Calif.
CSULA has a huge number of degree programs to choose from. This is one of the state’s largest public universities. The school also has a high acceptance rate. Because of the large number of applicants they get each semester, California public institutions have low acceptance rates compared to many other state universities. Make sure you apply early to a school as popular as CSULA.

2. California State University–Fresno
Fresno, Calif.
Many research centers are located at Fresno State, making it a perfect venue for students to undertake research, even as an undergraduate. The California Agricultural Technology Institute, California Water Institute, Central Valley Educational Leadership Institute, Institute for Public Anthropology, and many other centers and institutes may be found at CSU Fresno.

1. San Diego State University–Imperial Valley
Calexico, Calif.
Imperial Valley is a satellite campus of San Diego State University and one of California’s most affordable institutions. Calexico is the name of the city in the United States, and Mexicali is the name of the city in Mexico.
