1. Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy
The Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy is an official state institution affiliated directly with the Ukrainian Ministry of Health. This confers it exceptional authority within Ukraine. It is also one of the oldest universities in the country, as it was based in 1916 as a higher education institute for female medical students.
This medical school in Ukraine has many international partnerships which support its continuous development in research and teaching. Some of these are in Germany, France, the United States, Canada, Russia etc. In support of these links, the DMA offers courses in English and French alongside the Ukrainian language MD program.
To apply to study at the DMA, as an international student, you need to contact the admissions department in order to obtain an invitation to study, which will then allow you to travel to Ukraine and take entrance exams. Ukrainian students take these exams directly after high school.
2. Kharkiv National Medical University
The Kharkiv medical school can trace its roots back to the 19th century, when a Medical Faculty was established at the Kharkiv National University. Throughout the years, this has developed into the Kharkiv National Medical University, which has been operating under this name since 2007.
A number of research centers and a scientific library support the tuition program. Moreover, the university has an active student life, various organizations and trade unions on campus. It also has a dedicated Education and Research Institute for Training of International Citizens. 3. V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University – Medical Faculty

4. Odessa National Medical University
Odessa is one of Ukraine’s biggest and most cosmopolitan cities, and its national medical university is particularly illustrious. The university started out as Novorossiysk University in 1900, before struggling during the wars which followed, and subsequently developing into the Odessa Medical Institute.
Nowadays, Odessa National Medical University welcomes 10,000 students across 6 faculties and 66 departments of study, of which c. 3,000 are international students. Fees for studying in English are slightly higher than in Russian, but still only amount to between 4,000 € and 6,000 € per year (higher as you progress through your studies up to year 6).
5. Kyiv National Medical University – Faculty of General Medicine
Also known as the O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University, the Kyiv university for medical studies offers an M.D. course as part of its Faculty of General Medicine. There are both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees available and they are taught in Russian, Ukrainian and English.
This is a hub for medical study in this country and the largest medical university in Ukraine, given that it is located in the capital city. The university has a large number of international students as well as researchers and professors teaching and working as part of exchange agreements. Pharmacy and Dentistry studies can also be undertaken here.
6. Ternopil State Medical University
Situated in the city of Ternopil, this medical university has been operating since more recently, as it was established under the name of Ternopil Medical Institute in 1957. However, it has secured its place in high rankings and is well regarded at national and international level. The university aims to train highly-skilled public health professionals for the Ukrainian health system as well as those of other countries. They are also dedicating considerable resource to biomedical and pharmacological research.

7. Vinnitsa National Medical University – National Pirogov Memorial Medical University

They have a Faculty of Medicine as well as Pharmacy, Dentistry, licensed laboratories and a number of postgraduate study departments ranging from Emergency and Military Medicine to Physical Training.
