The rich history, culture, and architecture of Paris are well-known. It draws roughly 30 million tourists each year as the home of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral.

Paris has also been a favourite location for students who want to enjoy the French metropolis due to its immense beauty. In fact, almost 110,000 foreign students are enrolled in Parisian universities.

If you’re considering studying in Paris, keep in mind that you can do so without breaking the bank. This is true as long as you enroll in one of the cheapest universities in Paris.

Cheap Universities in Paris

1. Sorbonne University

Tuition Fee For Undergraduate Programs: $205 a year

Sorbonne University is a public research institution founded in 2018, but its history dates back to 1257, when the Sorbonne College was founded. The current university was formed by combining the universities of Paris-Sorbonne and Pierre et Marie Curie with other smaller institutions. For international students, Sorbonne University is one of the cheapest university in Paris.

Three faculties make up the famed Sorbonne University. One is the Faculty of Humanities, which includes, among other things, Language, Geography, History, Philosophy, and Musicology.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering, on the other hand, is in charge of subjects such as mathematics, astronomy, informatics, robotics, and physics, to mention a few. Both of the aforementioned faculties offer double degrees in a variety of subjects, including science and law. The Faculty of Medicine, which controls the educational institutes of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital and Hôspital Saint-Antoine, is the final department.

Sorbonne University has a rather diversified student body, with 20% of its students hailing from all corners of the globe. In total, more over 8,700 international students are enrolled at Sorbonne. Foreign students must complete all prerequisites on the Parcoursup website in order to apply to the top-ranked Sorbonne.

2. Université Paris-Saclay

The Université Paris-Saclay, a research-intensive public university headquartered in Plateau de Saclay, Paris, is next on our list of cheapest universities in Paris. Previously, it was known as the University of Paris-Sud (Paris XI). The University of Paris, which was founded in 1150, was superseded by the University of Paris, which was founded in 1971.

Because the university’s undergraduate programs are primarily taught in French, applicants must have a strong command of the language (B2 or C1 mark).

Despite this, it also offers a number of English-language Master’s degrees, including Chemistry, Drug/Health Product Development, Economics, Physics, International Business, Life Science & Health, and Nuclear Energy, to mention a few.

Foreign students who wish to study at the Université Paris-Saclay must submit a pre-admission request, particularly if they live in a country that is not part of the Etudes en France program.

3. Gustave-Eiffel University

Perhaps the newest public educational institution in Paris is Gustave-Eiffel University. The institution, which opened in January 2020, focuses on the study of cities and transportation.

The University of Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée and the French Institute of Science and Technology for Transport, Development, and Networks merged to form Gustave-Eiffel University.

This cheapest university in Paris is located in the eastern suburbs of Champs-sur-Marne and provides License (undergraduate) degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, and Commercial Management. It also provides a Bachelor’s degree in International Management, with the third year taught entirely in English.

Master’s programs in banking, business development, accounting, consulting, and management, to name a few, are available at Gustave-Eiffel University. It also provides a full-time International MBA program taught entirely in English.

4. Université de Paris

Tuition Fee For Undergraduate Programs: $316 a year

The current Université de Paris is the consequence of a merger of the University of Paris VI and the University of Paris VII in 2019. It is a descendant of the University of Paris, which was known as the College of Sorbonne at the time.

The Université de Paris, as an internationalized institution, provides international joint undergraduate degrees in chemistry, history, and law. There are also 17 master’s degrees in English available. Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Life Science, Neuroscience, Banking & Finance, Comparative Law, and Public Health are among the fields covered.

Currently, more than 11,000 international students attend the Université de Paris, accounting for 20% of the overall student body.

Foreign students must submit their criteria to the Etudes en France webpage in order to apply to the Université de Paris. The university may require the applicant to attend an interview or take a language test once they have been accepted.

French courses are also available to new international students at Université de Paris, which can be taken throughout the academic year.

5. Université Paris Dauphine – PSL

The Université Paris Dauphine – PSL, the only French school to be both a Grand Ecole and a university, is the final candidate on this list of the cheapest universities in Paris. It was established in 1968 as a faculty dedicated to the study of law, management, and economics, to name a few subjects. It received EQUIS certification in 2009 before becoming one of PSL University’s co-partners in 2011.

Bachelor’s degrees in Organization Science (Law, Social Science, Management, and Applied Economics), Applied Mathematics, and Computer Science are available at the university. There are also 95 Master’s specialities, 5 Doctorate degrees, and 90 Executive Education programs available at the university.

Paris Dauphine students can participate in student exchange programs at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, Renmin University in China, and Hitotsubashi University in Japan, to mention a few.

Foreign Paris Dauphine applicants, like most other Parisian universities, must submit their applications through the Etude en France portal.

To date, 28 percent of Paris Dauphine’s students are international students from a variety of countries. This makes it one of the most diversified neighborhoods in Paris, if not all of France.
