MCAT Total Score to MCAT Percentiles 2023 Rank

The MCAT is graded on a scale that ranges from 472 to 528 points. For any examination, a candidate’s MCAT score percentiles 2023 rank is the position he or she holds in comparison to other test takers in the same session. When a candidate receives an 88 percentile, it means that they outperformed 88 percent of the other candidates who took the test.

  • All tests done between 2018 and 2020 yielded the above percentile score. This is the most recent information as of January 2021.
  • As can be seen, a score of 500 falls into the 45th percentile. If a candidate receives a score of 500 or higher, they are in the top 45 percent of all test takers.
    Students with an 80th percentile or higher may be accepted by average medical schools, and students with a 95th percentile or higher may be required by Ivy League schools.Some schools accept old and new scores, while some accept just new scores.
  • For admissions to medical schools, MCAT is only one of the factors. Other factors include GPA, coursework, letters of recommendation, etc.
  • Average MCAT score for students in 2020-2021 is 511.
  • For Top 20 programs candidates might need an MCAT score of ~521 (that is, 98 percentile to be in the average range)
