The Faculty moved to the Tamalanrea campus in 1988. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital, an associated hospital, opened 5 years later for patient treatment and clinical education.

In 2002, the institution changed its curriculum to integrated education to keep up with advances in medical education. The course was divided into three sections, reducing the degree’s length to the present five years.
